Sweden Rock 2011 – the music

Imaginary Karin - Sweden Rock Festival 2011

Here are some bands I saw while attending Sweden Rock Festival 2011:

Buckcherry

First band we saw! I had never even heard of them before but I loved their performance! Many of their songs were really, really good and the singer was funny and energetic despite the dull weather. They’re welcome back any time :D

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

We were pretty late and couldn’t get very close to the stage, but it was still awesome! I love Joan Jett and she did a great job :D

Judas Priest

I hate to say this, seeing as they are living legends of rock and all, but I didn’t like their concert very much. Rob Halford both looked and sounded tired. I heard better versions of Breaking The Law on the karaoke stage… To bad :|

Evergrey

Everyone else in my group wanted to see Iced Earth who played at the same time on another stage, so I saw these guys alone – but it didn’t matter. They were great! And I got to be right at the front :D

Rob Zombie

Nice stage decor, lots of energy, great concert and.. maybe there’s something wrong with me, but I think he is sexy as hell! Just saying.

Whitesnake

Only one thought went through my head during this concert: David Coverdale have disturbingly white teeth. Sorry, but that’s all I remember about Whitesnake.

Raubtier

This is THE best Swedish band right now if you ask me. They play industrial metal and sing only in Swedish, so I doubt you’ll ever hear about them outside Scandinavia. Which is a little sad since they’re awesome.

The concert was just as good as I had hoped! They were really funny and seemed to have a great time. They were very nice too, afterwards they came down to the fence and talked to the audience. Markus got the singers autograph on his arm and he was SO HAPPY XD

Ozzy Osbourne

Truth be told, I didn’t really believe he was coming until he appeared on the stage. I mean… he’s been living with one foot in the grave for most of his life and has cancelled concerts before due to illness or injury. I saw him with Black Sabbath in 2005 and for all I could tell it was a minor miracle that he made it through the concert alive, and now it’s 2011!

With that said… I think he was wonderful <3 He staggered around on stage with his arms out and his back bent like an old man, but he was constantly smiling and his voice was good. It looked like he had fun! A nice surprise was to see Gus G on lead guitar, I had forgotten that he would come. I grinned like an idiot throughout the whole concert XD

Wow, I need to go to a rock music festival one of these days. I haven’t ever been to one – always been short on cash when the time comes around. I was a bit “afraid” of seeing new bands live but I went to my first show in January and the supporting acts were just great, I even went on to download their music later and really enjoyed it.

Your thoughts on Raubtier remind me a lot of how I feel about Finnish bands – I feel like they should get more attention because they’re so good.

That’s an awesome — if a little random — lineup!

I totally agree re: Ozzy. I’ve seen him live (solo & with Sabbath) over a dozen times, over the past decade, and over the past few years, he’s definitely starting to show his age. But he also puts on a great show for someone almost a thousand years old! ;)

Also agree with the Gus G love! I like Zakk and all, but Gus is such a better fit with Ozzy. Towards the end of his tenure, Zakk was turning Ozzy’s music into BLS Lite.

And, uh, *cough*, no, there’s nothing wrong with your finding Rob Zombie hot. Or… if there is, we share the malady, because damn… :D

I love most of the bands that you mentioned – Buckcherry, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Whitesnake, Rob Zombie. Great to hear that your experience at the festival was awesome. I have been to one festival myself and I loved it. I can not wait to go to another one!

Sounds like you had an amazing time, I need to go to a Rock festival (we have Download festival in the UK – but I never get the time off to go!)

Jealous you got to see Ozzy and that you’ve seen him twice no less!
