Spooky Box – The Voodoo Box

Imaginary Karin - Spooky Box: The Voodoo Box

The last time I posted about Spooky Box Club I said I was unsubscribing. Well, apparently I couldn’t stay away for more than 5 months, so here we go again, haha!

I swear I’m not sponsored or anything, I just love this box so much. It’s the only subscription box I’ve found with a dark “alternative” theme, and I always like most of the things in every box.
Also, I’m not much of a shopper/spender and rarely buy unnecessary things for myself, so I think I’m allowed this one indulgence. ;)

Anyway, this is The Voodoo Box:

Black magic glitter garland

Oooh, I love this! The letters are really glittery and beautiful! I’ve already hung it in the bedroom over our bed. Because that’s where the magic happens, haha! ;) ?

Pair of mini skull candles

Really cute, but so small they only have like 1-2 hours of burning time. Would rather have had one larger skull candle tbh.

Skull cup enamel pin

I’m very torn when it comes to pins. I think they’re super cute and would like to wear them, but I find most of my clothes don’t really work with a pin. Or maybe it’s just me not having figured out how to wear them? Most of the time I try to put them on outerwear and bags, then I don’t have to remove them either.

This particular pin is nice, the green content of the cup glitters irl and looks really good.

Potion patch

LOVE this! The design is adorable and it would go well with the pin above. Maybe I should put them on the same jacket? Create a bit of a theme?

Statement glitter voodoo necklace

It’s pretty enough (moar glitter!), but it’s a bit too long for my liking. Long necklaces don’t really suit me, so if I want to wear it I have to shorten the chain.

Voodoo doll key charm

Hehe, sweet! Now I need to google how voodoo dolls work, see if I can turn anyone into a zombie. ;)

Bracelet and two collectable charms

I’m actually wearing this right now. As it’s not real silver, I know that it will eventually lose its coating and start discolouring. The charms are nice though (looks like I got the Batman logo), so I might be able to put them on something else when that happens.

Handcrafted gourmet lollipop

One of my favourite things about Spooky Box is that they always include a lollipop! ?
But… it appears like they have changed the sticks from wood to plastic now, and the wrapping is different too. It’s still a gorgeous piece of candy, but I’m a bit disappointed. The old lollipops looked much nicer in comparison.

Usually I save my lollipops, but I guess I’ll just eat this one. How terrible (not). ;)

Art print

I like this, art is always fun to get. :) I wish they had named the artist(s) though, it would be even more fun if I knew who made it.

Conclusion

I don’t have much knowledge about voodoo magic other than the standard dolls and chicken blood and such you see in movies, and I doubt those movies are always correct. But the theme is alright, you can’t go wrong with magic – black, white, or green.

This box was pretty good, there is lots of fun stuff here that I can actually use. The garland and the patch were my favourites, while the skull candles and the bracelet were the items I liked the least. Overall I appreciate how the items all fit the theme pretty well, and the green colours tie the whole thing together.

What do you guys think? :)

The box is not for me, but I can see why they’d appeal to some people :D There’s nothing wrong in splurging for yourself, especially if you don’t buy a lot in the first place. It’s great that you like this subscription box :) This box definitely did well with fitting the theme! That lollipop looks good! Reminds me of the times I saved these character lollies one of my friends sent me :)

This box is SO YOU. :)

I like long necklaces, because I’m short and I guess it elongates my frame. I don’t like necklaces that are too long though.

I feel the same way about pins. I always used to put them on my bag (back when my style was more like yours hehe) because I didn’t know where the hell to put them on my clothes. I did have a plaid red-and-black cropped jacket that I put some pins on, though, so if you have anything similar, it could work? The potion patch looks both cute and wicked at the same time!

Shame about the candles being really tiny but I actually think they are rather cute! I think I need to get more into candles… I have a cactus candle that my friend gave me for my birthday many years ago and I feel it’s too cute to light up. :x

When I get jewellery that isn’t real or is just costume quality, it often goes into the trash when the coating comes off or when it tarnishes or starts giving me a rash. If the charms or adornments are still OK then I usually put them on a bag or a keychain too. :)

I love seeing what you get out of this box because it’s always really interesting, but because it’s out of my style I am not interested in signing up. It’s great that you found more things to use in this box compared to the others though ?

That looks awesome. Did I tell you the time I found a voodoo doll in a thrift store? It was hilarious and I just wanted to get it because..I don’t believe in voodoo or anything but it was quite funny to see something like that there. I love the box!

What a cool subscription box!! I get OwlCrate every month and it’s so fun being surprised by what you’ll find! The glitter garland is really cool!

I think they had better boxes, but I do like the voodoo doll! :)

It’s nice to have the ‘surprise’ element behind a subscription box, but it certainly comes with a risk ;) I think I’d rather save up for one thing I really like! :)
