Polarvargen (the arctic wolf)

Music is one of the two things that inspire me the most in life. The other is nature.
Just about everything I do, from the way I dress to the people I choose to be friends with, can be traced back to those two things: music and nature. You don’t have to know me very well to figure it out either. :P

Well, today I was listening to Raubtier – one of my favourite bands. I think I’ve mentioned them before somewhere? They’re a Swedish band playing industrial metal and they only write in Swedish, so I doubt anyone outside Scandinavia will ever hear about them. Anyway, they’re awesome.

One of my favourite songs by them is Polarvargen (The arctic wolf). I spent most of today listening to it over and over and over again and… this is what happened:

Imaginary Karin - polarvargen drawing

“Your love is too wild and harsh.
You have the eyes of an arctic wolf,
you have hunger like a wolverine.
Fear for you is sinking in,
burning my skin.
You swore to be forever mine…”
“Din kärlek är för vildsint och kärv.
Du har polarvargens ögon,
du har hunger likt en järv.
Fruktan för dig tränger sig in,
bränner mitt skinn.
Du svor att du för evigt var min…”

I don’t think the wolverine in the drawing is entirely necessary, but it’s there and I can’t erase it so… But I still like her :) The lyrics are pretty dark and grim, talking about love and betrayal and murder, hence the blood. The flowers are an attempt at drawing Arctic poppies, one of my favourite flowers.
For once I actually remembered to scan my progress, below is the first sketch and the first colouring.

OH MY GOD. You are so talented! This is stunning, really!

It’s GORGEOUS! I love it! I love her hair and how her eyes match the wolf’s. The colors and the blood kind of remind me of this horror film called Suspiria that I watched recently. The whole movie is very artistic and visually stunning, so that’s a good thing. :)

Wow, you are really good at drawing. That is one thing I always say, I wish I could draw better. Maybe some day I will have more free time where I can just practice drawing stuff. But I’m not very creative like you obviously are.

Wow, that’s a beautiful drawing! Great coloring work :D I liked seeing your progress, especially the first sketch.

I haven’t heard of Raubtier, but I liked the song you linked! I’m a fan of a few Swedish metal bands, like In Flames, Dark Tranquility, and Soilwork :)
