New art: Bullfinch for Christmas

Imaginary Karin - Christmas bullfinch 2016

This is a Christmas card I made for my parents. It’s watercolour on watercolour paper + coloured pencils and ink. Size is about A5 (21 x 14,8 cm).

The bird is a Eurasian Bullfinch, one of the cutest birds we have if you ask me. Especially the males with their bright red chests. During the summer they live deep in the forest and you hardly see them at all, but in the winter you can sometimes spot them around the birdfeeders in people’s gardens. It’s the perfect little Christmas finch. :)

I honestly can’t believe it’s almost Christmas Eve… My holiday spirit hasn’t really been here this year, but hopefully it’ll kick in tomorrow. In Sweden we tend to celebrate on the “eve” of things, so our Christmas is on the 24th instead of the 25th. We’re going to be at Markus’s parents with his sister and her family. I think it’ll be nice and relaxed, I’m looking forward to it.

Anyway, I hope you have fun whenever or whatever you celebrate! Happy holidays! :D ?

Happy holidays! I love the Christmas card. :) It’s interesting that Christmas Eve is more of a thing in Sweden. In Australia I think a lot of people spend Christmas with their families so most other parties happen on the eve. I don’t think my Christmas spirit has really been around this year, since I am just looking forward to the new year, but it’ll be nice spending time with my family :)

Happy holidays to you, Karin! Hope you were able to get into the holiday mood and enjoyed the celebrations!

That card is beautiful! I’m not always fond of watercolours, but this one turned out lovely, and it appeals to me a lot. The bird is really cute, and its bright red chest is definitely a highlight! Thanks for sharing your card art!
