Mushrooms in autumn

Imaginary Karin - mushroom

I always take a million photos of colourful leaves this time of year, but now I’ve started doing something different. Last year I started a project of taking photos of mushrooms.

Why? Because mushrooms grow in autumn and they’re cute and I like them. :)

I wonder if my affinity for mushrooms is somehow correlated with the unhealthy amount of Mario Bros. I played as a child? Like.. maybe I subconsciously connect them to 1UP and Toad somehow?

I just wish I knew more about the different types. I know a lot about berries because my grandparents always took me berry picking in the autumns, but for some reason we never picked mushrooms so I know nothing about them and have no idea what kinds are edible.
Except I’m pretty sure a red cap with white dots means it is poisonous. :P

Maybe I should take a class or something? I actually think they have some kind of mushroom picking classes here. Might be worth looking into…

I know I go on and on about this every damn year, but I just love autumn so much!

Nature may be going to sleep, but I feel like I’ve just woken up. Watching trees going bare and nights getting darker should maybe be depressing, but I don’t see it like that.
I don’t see it as nature dying, I see it as nature starting over. This is the end of the cycle, this is when everything old is getting cleaned out and we go back to the beginning.

Every season has its charm, but this is the best time of the year for me. ❤️

Also, soon it’s Halloween!

I love the first and last photos! Red mushrooms like that always remind me of Alice in Wonderland, I’m not even sure why. I don’t know if we get them like that here, all I remember seeing is boring old brown ones.

Yes, they do look a bit Alice in Wonderland-ish, don’t they? :)

These photos are amazing! You are really lucky to live somewhere where such beautiful parts of nature grow. Not just the shrooms, but the forest or whatever it is that they’re in – it’s marvellous. I would have to travel for at least an hour to get to anything like that.

It would be super interesting to do a botanical class or something that would educate you more about these magical things. I have always been intrigued by nature and plants, having done biology in school I find that there is so much to learn about the natural world.

Thank you! Most of these photos were taken only a few minutes walk from my house. I do consider myself very lucky to live so close to nature :)

Biology in general is super interesting. A botanical class of some sort, not necessarily just about mushrooms, would be really fun to attend. There is so much to learn out there!

The photos look so beautiful. I love it when a lot of mushrooms come up, it is a lot of fun taking photographs of them because they are all so unique. :D

It would be interesting to learn more about them! We have the same red ones, and I have always been told that they are poisonous. But because I am unsure, I usually avoid touching any of them.

I hope you have a great time on halloween and enjoying the ‘spooky season’. :D

Those are some very lovely pictures, and mushrooms are great.

Fall is nice, but I’m partial to Winter myself. I live in Florida. Even fall is hot and humid here.

Lovely photos! A mushroom picking class sounds like it would be interesting and fun, be nice to use the safe wild mushrooms in a few dishes.

I love Autumn too. Can’t wait for Halloween, it’s my favourite holiday.

Wow, you have so many different mushrooms near you! I’ve never seen most of these before, but I love the bright colors of the orange and red ones. I’m a big fan of autumn too. The autumn weather is always amazing, and I like your idea of how nature is starting over :) I’m excited for Halloween too!
