Halloween 2018 + Halloween tag

Halloween buffé table

Happy Halloween everyone! 😈🎃
I don’t know if you celebrated this past weekend or if you’re doing it this weekend, but I did my partying on Saturday. For once I actually had a real Halloween party to go to!

I’ve been complaining for years about how people here don’t care about Halloween and what a bummer it is. But the problem is hopefully solved – a friend married an American a while back and now they’ve both moved here. So they threw a proper party, complete with decorations, scary looking food, and costumes.
It was a very fun party, and I got to try red velvet cake and candy corn for the first time. Was pretty good, I definitely liked the candy corn.

The hosts talked about making it an annual thing and I really hope they do. I’d love to celebrate American-style Halloween every year!

Mine and Markus Halloween costume 2018

Markus and I went as hunter and trophy. Because we’re married now, and he’s so my trophy husband. 😁 Unfortunately, I only have this one crappy photo of us. You can’t tell, but I’m wearing green eyeshadow (sparkly even, because am very glamorous hunter) as camouflage paint on my face.

Hope you’re having/had a nice Halloween too!

Halloween tag questions

Kim also tagged me to do the Halloween blog tag, so I’m including that below:

1) What’s your favourite horror movie?

I’m a fan of The Blair Witch Project (the original one), it made even me question going out in the woods, haha! I also love The Woman in Black with Harry Potter Daniel Radcliffe. Beautiful aestethic and seriously creepy!

I always prefer spooky supernatural movies with shadows and whispers rather than splatter and gore.

2) If you were in a horror movie, how far do you think you would get? (Five minutes, halfway, all the way to the end credits…?)

I’d definitely survive because I wouldn’t even be part of the plot. I’d be the extra at the beginning who is like “something’s wrong with this house/forest/town, fuck this, I’m leaving”. And then I’d go home and never get to experience any of it.

3) Favourite scary video game?

I usually don’t play scary games. The scariest I’ve played is Zelda: Majora’s Mask. Maybe that doesn’t count, but it definitely freaked me out. The whole setting was just unnerving. Weird and dark and creepy… That moon still haunts me. 🌝🙈

4) Favourite scary story?

Anansi’s Goatman is pretty cool. Scary creatures in dark forests are always great, like stories about skinwalkers and hulder and such.

5) What’s one unusual thing that you’re afraid of?

Fire and heat. Having respect for fire is normal and natural, but I have a straight up phobia of it. I was 16 the first time I managed to light a lighter, and I was well into my 20’s before I finally learned to light a match without freaking out. And I STILL can only do it if I take a breath, compose myself, and focus intently on keeping everything steady.

This fear extends to intense heat as well. Like ovens. I always make sure to wear huge super thick mitts before even touching the handle. If I’m in somebody else’s house and they don’t have adequate mitts available I ask someone to take out the food for me.

Yeah, I’m an adult woman having my mum take out the lasagna because the heat scares me. 🙄

Behold, my greatest fear…

6) What’s your first memory of Halloween?

First time I heard about Halloween must’ve been in some American movie back in my childhood.

I was 20 years old the first time I actually did something to celebrate Halloween. I was visiting a friend who lives in a large city in the south, and we went to a Halloween party at a club. Didn’t dress up as anything particular tho, just wore regular goth clothing.

7) What’s your favourite Halloween memory?
About 8 years ago a friend went all-in and organized a big Halloween party. Complete with decorations and “scary” food and everybody actually showed up in costume! It was great. Usually when someone tries to do a Halloween party here half the guests show up looking normal. But this time everyone did their part. It was super fun!

8) Best Halloween costume you’ve had?

My werewolf costume from 2011. It wasn’t very good overall, but I loved those monster hands!

Imaginary Karin - Halloween 2011

9) Worst Halloween costume you’ve had?

All the years I haven’t had any costume at all, I’d say. 😕

WHICH IS SCARIER:

10) Werewolves or vampires?
Werewolves. 🐺 Not actually scarier, just so much cooler than vampires IMO.

11) Ghosts or zombies?
Ghosts. 👻 Zombies are physical beings, you can kill them and they usually move pretty slowly. What are you gonna do against a ghost?!

12) Creepy dolls or creepy clowns?
Clowns. 🤡 There are a few cute dolls in the world, but 100% of all clowns that have ever existed are terrifying.

13) Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers or Leatherface?
Freddy Krueger, because he shows up in your dreams and messes with your mind. 🤯

That would be so much fun to go to a Halloween party, I hope they will do it every year! :D I love your costumes and the meaning behind it haha. I was trying to think of my favourite horror film, and my mind kept wandering back to the Blair Witch Project. I guess because it was the first movie that really scared me and I was younger and not 100% sure if it was fake. :P I like your tactic for surviving in a horror movie!

I love your Halloween set up I especially love the skull in the middle. And oooooh! Your werewolf costume was awesome!

I agree with you 100% that all clowns are terrifying. Including Ronald McDonald. 😂
