First snow 2013

First snow 2013

First snow 2013

Look what greeted me when I got out of the house this morning: a thin layer of snow! :yay:
(Don’t know if you can tell, but the street and the roofs are white.) It kept snowing all day too, but most of it melted as it touched the ground. Only the north side of ditches, houses, and trees still have a little bit of white by them. They say it’s going to snow even more tomorrow.

Winter is my second favourite season, it’s almost as wonderful as autumn, so the snow is most welcome! I just need to get the winter tyres on the car… Summer tyres on snow is a bit more exciting than I’m comfortable with.

So early for a first snow fall! But it looks very beautiful. Especially on the colorful fall leaves. I like that little mixture of both seasons. Has a magical quality. :)

  2. 18 October 2013

Oh boy I love that second picture you posted, so pretty.

  3. 19 October 2013

Oh gosh, I want me some snow too!! Temperatures here vary between 18-20C so no chance of that anytime soon….

Winter is my favourite season, shared with Fall really. There’s something absolutely magical about the colourful leaves as well as the snow covering the land in a natural colourful/white blanket, and I tend to think that Winter & Fall are the coziest seasons, perfect for curling up with a good book and a hot cup of cocoa in front of the fire place, don’t you think? :D

I completely agree! Winter and autumn are the best seasons and “cosy” is a great word to describe them with.

  4. 20 October 2013

So lovely! :) I really like the second picture.

  5. 22 October 2013

Gorgeous pictures! I love the second one…and I am trying to decide if I want to congratulate you on the snow, or beg you to keep it. :P I am definitely not ready for snow yet, even if the atmosphere has felt like it is coming for the past couple of days. I mean, the leaves have not even changed colours yet.

Hehe, I think congratulations are in order since I actually want snow. ;)

  6. 23 October 2013

Seeing this reminded me of the place I stayed during my four years in college. I miss that place now. I miss snow. I take it it’s normal for it to start snowing in October, given your location? Beautiful pictures, by the way. :)

Mid-October is pretty normal for a first snowfall, yes. It usually melts away the first times it falls though. The “real” snow usually won’t come until mid-November.

Oooh, first snow! I love that time of year, snuggling up inside and watching the snow fall – it’s just beautiful. We haven’t had any snow fall just yet over here in Rhode Island, but I’m sure it’s right around the corner. :yay:

Aw, it looks so pretty. I can’t wait to see more photos of the snow as the season moves in. I can imagine snow/winter tires would be a must. :D
