Nobody tagged me but I wanted to participate anyway! I wouldn’t call myself a real goth, but I’m definitely alternative and “darkly inclined” so to speak. If you like it feel free to answer the questions yourself. :)

Simple Questions
What is your favourite candle scent?
I have a bit of a scented candle addiction and have a million (not really, but definitely a lot) different scents that I switch between. The favourite depends on the season. Warm spicy scents for autumn (love pumpkin spice), clean fresh smells in the winter, flowery sweet scents in spring etc.
Are you a tea or coffee person?
Neither. I can drink both – but only if mixed with so much milk and sugar it barely even counts as tea/coffee anymore.
What is your favourite brand & colour of lipstick?
In theory, I absolutely love lipsticks and would wear them all the time. In reality, whenever I wear it I can’t stop worrying about it smearing or fading. So to save myself the headache I usually settle for a bit of tinted lip balm and call that enough.
If I do decide to wear lipstick my favourite shade that I’ve found is Sangers by Illamasqua. It’s the perfect vampy red and suits my skin tone very well.
What is your favourite perfume/cologne?
I like many of the perfumes by Juicy Couture. Especially Viva La Juicy Noir. Extra points for how cute their bottles are!
Do you have a celebrity crush?
Nah, not really. I like a lot of celebrities but I don’t care about them as much now as I did when I was younger, so “crush” would be an overstatement.
If you had to give up the colour black, what colour would you choose instead?
Dark purple, like plum. Or maybe a dark emerald green.
If you could change your name to a stereotypical 90s/2000s gothy name, what would it be?
Haha, something witchy with a W in it. Like Willow or Morwen or something.
What are your top three tips for surviving hot weather while clad in black?
1: cover your head with a cap or veil or something.
2: stay out of the sun.
3: live close to the arctic so hot weather won’t be that much of a problem.
What song will always make you happy (doesn’t have to be a goth band)?
This shows my age but… I Believe In a Thing Called Love by The Darkness. Listen to that peppy falsetto and try not to smile. Or better yet: watch the music video! 😁👌
If you could be a supernatural creature, what would it be and why?
Yeah, I’m gonna be a witch.
What horror monster-based super power would you have?
Guess witch doesn’t count as horror monster… Lycanthropy! I want to be able to wreak havoc as a werewolf! 🤘
Do you feel confident or comfortable interacting with other Goths or gothy people (online or irl)?
I rarely feel comfortable interacting with anyone I don’t already know, so no. Also – and I know it’s just in my head and nobody probably cares – I can’t help feeling a bit inferior sometimes when talking to someone looking like a diehard punk/metal/goth if I don’t also happen to look alternative that day. Like some days I do look like Morticia Addams, but some days I also look like a colourful 50’s housewife. Or like a hippie. Or like a lumberjack. So obviously, according to my brain, I’m a poser and not as dedicated as them or something.
Which is more important for a look: Great hair or great makeup?
On others I don’t care, but on myself I say great makeup. Because my hair is very uncooperative and difficult to style, so it’s easier to do something fun with my face.
Is there something you wish there was more of in your subculture?
I just wish there was more of a subculture scene up here at all. The towns are mostly too small to have any dedicated goth/metal/punk places, it’s all just mainstream general stuff. No alternative bars/clubs, no alternative shops, no nothing. :/
How are you at DIY?
Horrible. I’m not crafty at all.
Confessional (aka True or False)
I love watching cheesy romance films.
Depends. If it’s a romantic comedy it can be fun, but straight up romance… nah. Mostly not.
I ALWAYS remember to wash off my makeup at night.
True. Don’t understand how anyone can sleep in makeup. If I don’t wash it off I’ll wake up the next day with itchy bloodshot eyes, 15 fresh pimples, and a stained pillow cover. 🤢 Not worth it.
I sleep with plushies
False. I do occasionally sleep with a live cat though.
I wear non-black pajamas most nights.
True in the sense that I don’t wear anything to bed. ;)
I don’t like vampires.
True. I mean vampires are cool and all, but they’ve been overdone and I’m getting tired of them.
I don’t like clubs.
True. Prefer pubs.
I’m dating a goth/darkly-inclined person
True!
I don’t enjoy graveyards.
False. Love them, especially around All Saint’s Eve when the graves are all lit with candles and lanterns.
I don’t like haunted houses.
False. Love haunted houses, just don’t make me stay the night in one. 👀
Blood makes me queasy
False. *Insert Ygritte saying girls see more blood than boys*
I’d sooner faint than pet a spider
False. I like spiders and have actually owned a pet tarantula.
I’ve never read Dracula.
True. But I bought the book once when I found it on sale, so I do own it. I just haven’t read it yet!
Haha, I also own Dracula but have never read it! ;-)
This was a fun tag and I might steal it for my blog too. I’m not really goth (I had a goth phase in secondary school), but I do like a lot of things associated with the subculture.
OMG you had a tarantula??? I heard they make really sweet pets. I’m not sure if I’d be able to, though… Hahaha. I also used to drink coffee with so much sugar and cream (ie: Frapps) that it didn’t really count… But at the same time, gave me stellar sugar and caffeine highs :P
I highly recommend Dracula. It’s like… Totally not what you’d expect, from what you see in popular culture of what “Dracula” as a character is. But similar thing happened with Frankenstein. Lol.
Yes, many years ago I had a Mexican Red Knee! Tarantulas are amazing pets. Their fur is super soft, it’s like petting a kitten. :D
I heard many good things about Dracula, so I’m definitely reading it someday! It’s just that the to-read pile keeps growing faster than I can read… 😫
I love that song, too! I went through a goth and/emo stage when I was younger. Loved Hottopic and just had a blast!
I remember I used to be so upset that we didn’t have any Hot Topic in my country! Still am kinda salty about it actually, haha!
Hej!
