I’ve recently received my second Spooky Box! This time the theme is “alien invasion”! πŸ˜€

Having an alien inspired box couldn’t come at a more perfect time. Space is so in right now with all the hype around The Martian (good movie btw!), the new Star Wars movie, and the exciting discovery of water on Mars. Not to mention the talk about remaking The X Files.

For the record: I believe in aliens 100%, considering the immense size of the universe it would be against all odds and probability that we are alone. Of course there is life on other planets! The only question is where and what kind?

I do not however believe in little green men coming to earth and abducting people in their sleep. πŸ˜›

Anyway, the box:

The card was appropriately green this time, and the charity of the month is the Solar Electric Light Fund (S.E.L.F.).

Also, I got more sequins. The previous box was filled with pearls and star, and this one had silvery paper strips + star and moon sequins.

Imaginary Karin - mushroom

I always take a million photos of colourful leaves this time of year, but now I’ve started doing something different. Last year I started a project of taking photos of mushrooms.

Why? Because mushrooms grow in autumn and they’re cute and I like them. πŸ™‚

I wonder if my affinity for mushrooms is somehow correlated with the unhealthy amount of Mario Bros. I played as a child? Like.. maybe I subconsciously connect them to 1UP and Toad somehow?

my favourite things linkup

My Favourite Things is a monthly linkup hosted by Raisa and Eirene. Except this month when it’s guest hosted by Tara. πŸ™‚

I had 4 weeks off from work in July, and now I’ve been back at the office for a month. Work is crazy most of the time, but honestly it feels pretty good. It’s nice to take a break but it’s also nice to have some order and routine back in my life.

I’m also glad autumn is here! The air is crispy cool and the forest is like a rainbow with all the different shades of green, red, yellow, and purple. The best time of the year is here! πŸ˜€

And here are my favourite things right now:

Our new car

Behold our new vehicle!

It’s a Volvo V70 from -07. The paint is metallic black. I know it will be difficult to keep clean, but I still like it. My favourite feature is the cruise control, I’ve never had that in a car before and quickly learned it’s great when driving long distances!

Subscription boxes seem to be a huge trend right now, and I can understand why. Getting a mystery present every month sounds super fun! My only problem has been finding a box that suits me and my tastes…

Most services describe themselves as “trendy” and “chic” and “classy” and those are so not words I’d use to describe myself. πŸ˜› I like things that are odd and quirky, and most mainstream stuff just doesn’t do it for me.
If only there was a box for alternative weirdos!

And then I stumbled upon this:

Spooky Box Club

Spooky Box Club make, design, and sell a beautiful range of exclusive alternative lifestyle goods with an emphasis on witchy, gothic, supernatural, and paranormal interests and styles.”

The subscription is on the expensive side with Β£21/$31 per month, but if you don’t want to have a monthly subscription you can also buy each box individually. Right now you can order the upcoming Enchanted Forest Box for example.
In addition to that they also have a webshop selling some items from previous boxes.

Usually all the fun stuff you find online is in America,
