I’ve had a pretty busy weekend, but also very fun. Friday was my birthday and it started with Markus singing for me and serving me cake in bed. He had even bought a small bottle of Dr Pepper which is my favourite soda. He earned quite a few brownie points that morning

Imaginary Karin - birthday 2011

In the afternoon Camila came to my office with this cute little cake.

Today is the spring equinox! :yay:
We’ve been having very pleasant weather lately, the sun has really broken through the cold and is actually quite warm now. Everything the sun rays hit starts melting and dripping. A puddle the size of a small country has been formed outside my door.
The snow will probably stay for another month or so, but right now it really feels like spring. Even if there’s still some winter left to take care of, the equinox means we’ve made it to the other side of the year at least.

I spent the day cleaning mostly. I washed (almost) every window in the apartment + cleaned the window frames + put up new, brighter curtains everywhere. Except in the bedroom, there I got darker curtains πŸ˜›
I have thin, white curtains up for the winter but when the sun comes back it gets to bright so I have to put up heavy, black ones instead. I don’t mind sleeping in sunlight, but Markus complains so black it is.

And yesterday there was the Super Full Moon, did you get to see it? The sky was clear so I saw it.

My birthday is still a week away, but Markus’ parents came to visit and celebrate me a little early.
They stayed for 3 days and we had a really nice time. Zaphod was very pleased to see his favourite food dispensers grandparents again πŸ˜‰

Imaginary Karin - birthday 2011

For Christmas I got a very U.F.O. looking ceiling lamp, and two matching window lamps to go with it.
Or as Markus put it: “We got Death Star! We got Death Star!” XD

Imaginary Karin - birthday presents 2011

From Markus’ sister I got a candle, a beautiful glass bowl (100% recycled glass) and a potted plant. The plant is a Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, or Snake Plant. I tend to kill everything green around me, but I’ve heard these are hardy so maybe I’ll manage to keep this one alive πŸ˜›

I also got a book about tarot from Markus’ mother. That sort of things really interest me so I started reading it straight away. The fact that the illustrations are made by Hans Arnold, one of my favourite Swedish illustrators, makes it even better  (Google him, he was a brilliant artist)
I’ve never had the opportunity to have a tarot reading before but now I’m a little tempted to get a deck of my own and try it out.

Mother Earth seem to be really going after Japan right now. I thought Haiti and Christchurch were enough, and then this happens. Massive earthquake –huge tsunami –failing nuclear plants –waking volcano. Every time I turn on the TV or go online it seem to be getting worse πŸ™

Things like these really remind me of how fortunate I am. People here bitch and complain about the Swedish climate a lot. About the long winters, the short summers, the cold, the darkness, the snow… But the truth is we’re so fucking lucky it’s embarrassing!
I live in a part of the world where natural “disasters” are limited to a week or two of extreme cold and maybe a huge blizzard – and even then it’s extremely rare that people actually die. There might be material damages and some economic downfalls, but people getting killed due to the weather happens just about never. The next person who walks in complaining about the snow will get yelled at. For real.

Now I’m gonna go take my dog for a walk. And enjoy the fact that the ground I walk on doesn’t shake.

Over the past months I’ve received some nice compliments regarding the smiles I use on this site. Since people seem to like them I figured I might as well offer them for public use πŸ™‚ It would be fun to know if anyone use them, so don’t hesitate to drop me a line if you do!
Also, I’ve never offered a zip-file for download before – let me know if there’s a problem with it. πŸ˜›

The set contains 28 different expressions, 10 are animated.
All fully transparent, but since the outline is medium grey they probably look best on medium or light coloured backgrounds.

Download ZIP

You can do whatever you want with them – just remember to link back to imaginarykarin.com if you use them on some website. And don’t redistribute them (offer them for download on some other site)… Ok? Please and thank you
