Norway

I don’t know if you’ve heard about what happened in Norway yesterday. A huge bomb went off in central Oslo (capital) killing 7 people and only a few hours later over 80 people were shot to death at a youth camp on a small island nearby. They’re still searching for people so the numbers are not final. A man has been arrested suspected for both attacks. They think he is some kind of Christian right-wing fundamentalist.

Some articles in English:
Reuters
BBC
CNN

Me and Markus spent most of last night watching the news. Then the number of dead were only around 8-9, which is bad enough, but when we woke up this morning it was 10 times worse. The images on the news are like something from a warzone, dead bodies scattered around, blown-out buildings, soldiers with guns walking around. The only thing telling it’s the North and not Baghdad is the green forests and the red cabins by the water. It’s almost ironic that something like this happened in such a beautiful and peaceful place.

I don’t even know what to say… it’s just so unbelievable. How? Why?
War is one thing. Natural disasters too. But such random acts of insanity!? It’s just… insane.

My thoughts are with Norway and all the people affected by this.
Take care of each other ♥

:( I always thought Norway was a quiet, friendly and safe country, one of the best to live in. It’s a shame this has happened there. It’s one thing to have natural disasters but with people fooling around and just going mad, it’s really upsetting. My thoughts are with those families who have been so bruised by this ordeal. <3

It’s really scary that people can snap and attack others like that. Kind of makes me lose hope in humanity. I hope the attacker is brought to justice. Promptly.

As Georgina said, what happened to Norway being one of those nice, peaceful countries? It is sad to think people can bring themselves up to terrible acts.

I heard about this last week. I never thought that something like this could happen in Norway.
Terrorism has always existed, but now it’s more exposed and public ever since that incident in the Munich Olympics.
