Movie: Kung Fury
Technically I watched this one in May, but I want to mention it anyway.
If you haven’t heard about it before, Kung Fury is a crazy over-the-top short film created by David Sandberg and crowdfunded on Kickstarter. It’s based on pretty much every 80’s action comedy ever made.
If you decide to watch it, don’t expect a “good” movie because it’s not. It’s not serious in any way. The film is 30 minutes packed with every silly stereotype you can think of, including dinosaurs and David Hasselhoff. It’s a video game on steroids. Or possibly acid.
Personally, I just loved it! I laughed so much my sides hurt afterwards! A+
Music: Tom Waits
Remember what I’ve said about dark and gritty voices? Tom Waits has the kind of vocal cords that makes my skin crawl, in the good way. The song Hold On was used on an episode of The Walking Dead and it’s currently one of my favourites.
What can I say, I love the “grumpy middle-aged man” type of music. :P

Tv: Season 3 of Orange Is The New Black
YES! This is one of the few shows that has neither supernatural monsters nor magic and STILL manages to keep me absolutely captivated. I fell in love with the ladies of Lichfield right away, and 3 seasons later my feelings hasn’t changed one bit.
I love watching the character’s backstories, and was really happy to see Chang and Big Boo’s histories being covered in this season. Suzanne and Sophia are still the characters I’m rooting for the most though, they are just so important and adorable.
*NOT SURE IF BELOW IS A SPOILER BUT I’M WARNING YOU ANYWAY*
Piper is a pretty horrible person, but I can’t say anything about her taste in women. (Men on the other hand… What was even the deal with Larry?) Alex is sex on legs, and Stella… oh my god <3 *fans self* I really hope Stella/Ruby Rose will come back somehow in the next season.
** SPOILERS FOR OITNB TOO MAYBE **
Ugh, BYE LARRY. I’m so glad he’s gone. He was so insufferable in season 2. I wanted to kick her and Polly. I think Piper’s over the top, but they did her dirty that season. From Daya giving birth, it looks like Piper’s halfway through her sentence. I wonder if it’ll get extended for the show or not.

Aahh, so many people talk about Orange Is The New Black. I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s been on my watch list for a while now. I will get to it some time!

I too, love stuff like Kung Fury and even the music video. My husband watched it low and then high quality to contrast the modern vs the old times. It was so catchy!
If you play games, I recommend playing Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon or at least streaming it, because it’s so flippen awesome and so 80’s in every way and my husband and I both loved it. It has so many cliches plus dinosaurs with laser beams on their heads and montages!
I’m only about half way through OITNB but I’m having a hard time getting into this season. I’m finding Piper to be very annoying now and almost wish she was no longer in the show.
** TOTAL SPOILERS (maybe?) **
I read in multiple interviews Piper is bisexual, so I assume that that was what was up with Larry? But Larry was so… conventional. I felt like he was too selfish for my liking, and I’m glad he’s out of the picture. Season 3 Piper was ridiculously selfish, especially with Alex, who had every right to be paranoid—she was selfish and manipulative. I understand Stella shouldn’t have stolen money from Piper, but… ugh, Piper was so horrible to her. :(
…at least this opens up the possibility of Ruby Rose returning?
And John Bennett is supposed to also return… he still has a contract for the series; he just has to return. :l
John Bennett, the character, I mean. Matt McGrory is the one with the contract. ;P

Ack, I’m on the last 3 episodes of OITNB this season but I keep forgetting to watch it. T’was bearable at first but I fell out of the loop once and then I lost my will and mood to finish the rest. It also did not help that Piper was super annoying this season. :( And then I didn’t like what Matt McGorry’s character did. Lastly, the triangle of Alex – Piper and the new inmate ruined it for me (I may be the 1% who doesn’t understand the hype for the new character).
I wish they showed more of Laverne Cox and the secondary characters though.
Ahahaha~! Kung Fury sounds like something I should watch when I just want to laugh my butt off! It probably will also remind me of Operation Condor, this horrible Jackie Chan movie my friend and I watched in junior high in the theatre. We laughed so hard that I’m surprised we weren’t kicked out of the theatre for that! Thanks for introducing me this film. Will definitely check it out :D
